Hi, Im Scott

Hi there, my name is Scott, I am 21 year old Web Designer and Full-Time Student in Bristol. I am studying Web Design at the University of West England in Bristol. I am currently on the second year of my course. I have been designing web pages, graphics and animations for a few years now. A lot of my knowledge is self-taught by following tutorials online and just generally messing around with software. I have also learnt some additional skills through my course and other Web Designers. Overall I have good understanding of software like Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash as well as the latest design trends and media.

Background

I am originally from a small town in Kent called Deal (near Dover). After Completing my A Levels there, I moved to Bristol to go to Uni. Since 2006 I have been making Web Sites for actual Clients. Before that I just played around and made little animations in Adobe Flash. The first website I made which actually went online was for a local band, I think this site is still out there somewhere but I would prefer to forget it. From there I started getting more work for two local businesses, A Driving Instructor and an Advertisement Publication. From here I did not get any new work but I was paid to redesign my very first site (this time using Flash).

In September 2007 I started Uni in Bristol. During my first semester I made a couple of Web Sites (these can be found in the portfolio section) for assignments. In January 2008 I then was asked to redesign a site again this time for the Driving Instructor (see portfolio). After that most of the work for 2008 was for Uni Assignments. I also set up DesignHack during 2008 so I had an online portfolio for my work.

Placement

At the moment, I am currently working as Developer at Beef in Bristol.

Present

My previous version of the site was available from June 2008 until January 2009. I decided to redesign the site to look and feel more relevant to me as a web designer and a person unlike before when I made it business orientated to obtain work. The new theme is more about who I am and what I can do, nice and simple really. If you are interested in my design then check out the blog entry, which will try and explain the ideas behind it. This theme was tweaked to look how it does now during March 2009.
